Another gloomy day so being bored and not wanting to watch TV, I had a idea to give leaf carving a try. Here is my first attempt to carve a oak leaf into the handle of a oak wooden spoon.

I wanted to test out making a small basic shelving unit. Before tackling a larger entertainment system. Having a bunch of very old scrapes of some softwood planks that have been laying around for decades I decided to finally use them for this project.

Had two ax heads from last season that where laying around that got broken. Now having a nice piece of seasoned cedar branch I figured I would see how it would work for these. Not investing much time in these a couple hours later now have two functional hatchets again.

The photo says it all, this is a great way to use a scrape piece of wood to make our common small tools a reach away. Use your imagination and you can find a lot of ways to use this idea.
